![]() After Drake’s verse went through, Future finally appeared covered in all black overalls and topped with a snow-white trapper hat, a full hour after his set was supposed to begin, rapping his half of the song. The rumour that was on everyone’s mind but rarely spoke out loud could be here. Then “Life Is Good” by Future featuring Drake played with Banks shouting “Toronto get your camera phones in the sky!” and just like that a crowd that was weary and shrinking was captive again. Then “Keep It Burnin” played, an actual track by Future and like a pebble dropped in water, the crowd rippled with excitement pushing forward, phones shooting into the air in anticipation. When he spun Sheck Wes’ “Mo Bamba” then “XO Tour Life,” buzz built in the crowd. Although he claimed Future was getting prepared there was a murmur that it still might not happen. For an hour the Uber Stage showed ads for Sprite, merch and flashed the schedule to remind the audience of how far behind the final show was running, especially without a DJ on stage.Īround 10:43 p.m., darkness descended on the stage and TJBanks, Future’s DJ stepped on stage, in a moment of confusion for the crowd. Initially the crowd was enormous but as the time ticked by, a trickle then a stream of people exited the venue. Scheduled to come out at 9:50 p.m., the massive crowd at the Uber Stage at Rolling Loud Toronto at Ontario Place was left waiting for Future for an hour. Future is one of them.Īt one point it was a question whether or not Future would even show up. Only a handful of artists can make you forget they were even late.
